Devi Ever Disaster Fuzz / Krackle Fuzz

Request.  It's all noise to me, but some of you lot seem to like them! :o)

Info from Devi about the original Disaster Fuzz:

Why would you like the Disaster Fuzz?  Because fuck you that’s why.  The disaster fuzz is filled with rolling waves of oscillation… or metal gates.  Depends on what you are looking for.  I guess that’s why there is a handy dandy flip switch to give you the option of one or the other.  The Disaster Fuzz is the little brother of the Truly Beautiful Disaster.  It has just the options you need to make noise, or fuzz love.  It’s only too bad the controls aren’t labeled FUCK and YOU because that’s exactly how you’ll feel when you run a guitar, bass, or vibrating sexual device through this little fuzz.  Demons expel from your fingers.  Cum for days.  This pedal is fancy and amazing.  Don’t feel like a handsome dapper lad after using this pedal?  Then you aren’t doing it right.  Please refer to the manual if you have any problems.  Oh right, there’s isn’t one.  WHO THE FUCK IS FLYING THE PLANE THEN???

So there you have it!

The SPST will switch between the Disaster Fuzz and Krackle Fuzz.

    Thanks a million :)

  2. Hello Man! Have you got any information about the DbA Harmonic Transformer??

  3. Verified!! :o)

Just a note to any other, my transistors went the opposite way to the diagram..check pins.

I'd buy this just for Devi description!
You know you're winning when your son says ''aargh dad it's just noise!''
    Suck it up boy! :0)

  4. When I said 'check pins' I was meaning anyone else building this...It wasn't aimed at you.. just sounds rude :)

  5. Hee hee, no problem. I didn't even check the pinouts to be honest, so it keeps it accurate

    1. Well to be honest, looking at yours now, I had the 2N2222A the 'wrong' way.. It didn't seem to make a difference to the normal switch position but changes the 'Noise/oscillation' position... just something for others to try :)

    2. Also, I had to use 22nf's instead of 20's... will that make much difference?

    3. I don't think it would make any difference whatsoever in something like this. My 2N2222A's are metal can which is why I left the orientation as it was.

  6. Hiya IvIark!

    A Special Request.

Devi Ever "Legend of Fuzz" (BIT) seems to be a great sounding pedal, I cant find it on internet. Could you please post that one?
    You definetly Rocks!

    Cheers!

  7. Thanks so much for all these layouts! I've been wanting to give this one a try for awhile, now I have no excuse. Gobs of fuzz!

  8. Made another one of these and I get below unity at max volume. I'm finding it strange that I'm suddenly having issues with both the Soda Meiser and now this?

Any ideas before Devi can go f....

    1. I'm wondering whether you've got a batch of duff components that are common to both effects. Did you ever get that cap meter?

    2. That's what I'm thinking too..... and no I never did get that cap meter.

    3. Send one to me (rather than binning it :o) and I'll cut all the components out and measure them and see what's going on.

    4. I could do, The only things that this and the Soda have in common are the resistors and I've checked they're the right value. Plus I rebuilt the Soda with all ceramics to see if the polys were the problem.and I've recently made a RAH/Plexi/MXR with no issues with the same caps. I may have another fiddle with it later, I just don't want to send it and find it's a silly error on my part.

    5. Ok, fixed it. First I had a 10m in place of a 10k (slapped). That solved the volume issue but it sounded terrible (worse than normal I heard you think?)So I started changing all the 10n's, testing it in between each change and the sound slowly got better until they were all changed to ceramics, now it works perfectly.

It really doesn't install much confidence in buying 'higher quality' components.

  9. Mark, wanted to ask you about doing a layout. couldn't find your email.
Graphic Fuzz by Earth sound research.... seems simple. and oddly similar to this Devi pedal.

  10. HI, any replacement for PN2907A? Thanks a lot.

  11. Hello and thank you for this excellent website!

I just recently build the Disaster/Krackle fuzz following the layout provided here and I'm having a problem which will become clear by watching this:

    http://murha.net/david/misc/krackleborked.MOV

I had to replace the MPSA18 transistor with a 2N5089 and the PN2907As with 2N2907A-PLs, as these were hard to come by. I also used 20n caps instead of 22's. Could these have affected? I'll gladly post more info when needed!

    1. Whoops! Meant to say that I used 22's instead of 20's...

    2. I'm going to start building this pedal. So did you ever switch out the parts and see if it worked...?

    3. Actually, I just saw the video you posted...that sounds great actually! lol

  12. HI!! can anyone tell me, how to make that self oscillation switch like on PGS demo? if i understanding correctly - SPST in the layout is switch to another Devi pedal but not to oscillation

    1. sorry for stupid question! just made that FX and it works as on PGS demo :D

    1. There is no 3rd lug on the switch, it’s a SPST (single pole, single throw) which has only 2 lugs.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the speedy response Zach! I guess i got a spdt. I'm guessing lugs 1 and 3 will work? Can you explain the basic difference in dum-dum terms for me please?

      Thanks again

    3. You’ll use lug 2 (middle) and one of the outside lugs, and you can cut the one you’re not using off.

You’ll see with switches the terms pole and throw, SPST, DPDT, 3PDT, etc. Since I can’t post pics in a response, I think this is a great clear explanation.
