Deluge Bass Distortion

Spotted this over at General Guitar Gadgets and thought it sounded nice. It's a modified
big muff that supposed to be tuned for bass, and from the clip it sounds pretty nice, but then again how can you go wrong with anything with big muff origins.

    2. Nevermind, they do use 5457s as diodes in the original. Legs are gonna be a little funky in this layout but you can bend the middle leg over, tie the source to the drain off board, and then just put a dogleg bend in the gate to make it 4 rows wide.

    4. If I understand this correctly based on the pinout etc., G (pin 3) is connected to the positive rail and S/D (pins 1, 2) are connected to one another and the negative rail?

  2. I'm guessing D1 & D2 can be swapped with any other JFET or MOSFET (e.g. IRF520, J201)?

    1. They're just being used as clipping diodes, so I don't see why not, but it may not sound the same.

    2. hey Zach could you take a look at the simple theremin layout again I made one and the 7805 gets white hot instantly. I triple checked everything. Or maybe point me towards the schematic please. Thanks

  6. Y'know, this thing will pass even more low end if you increase the value of the input, output and coupling caps (basically every 100nf) to something like 150 or 220nf...

    Will report back...

  7. Hi there, I’m super new at this but wanna give a bass fuzz build a shot, and your layout looks really easy to follow except what do “cuts” mean on the wiring diagram?

  8. Exactly that; cut the veroboard track so that there is a break in connectivity, best to use a meter to test the cuts before any solder takes place just to make sure.

  9. This thing becomes a REALLY great bass fuzz if you swap out the 1kΩ in the bottom left for a 330Ω (or thereabouts).

  15. Hi,i am trying to make this project and i have two questions...
    I am using a dpdt switch with Milenium true bypass, the schematics says that volume 2 hora yo output, to the Jack output ir the dpdt output?
    And also says that there is CUT under 100nF cap in columne 8, but there isn't any cap there, maybe is the columne 7?

    Someone help me?

  16. are the q1-4 mislabeled ? 2n5457 is not a diode so which diodes am i missing?

  17. Q 1-4 are transistors not diodes

  18. D 1,2 are 2N5457 transistors used as clipping diodes. Read comments above for more info.

  19. hello, i built this pedal exactly to spec but i swapped 1n4148 diodes for D1 and D2. the thing oscillates horribly. could this be why? how could I fix this without using 2n5457s? thanks!
