200th Verified Layout!

Well the Prescription Electronics Clean Octave Blend has become the 200th verified layout of the site, and even more amazing it was only 3 months ago that I posted a "100th Verified Layout" post!

Again thanks very much for everyone who has joined in, verified layouts, suggested mods, made corrections or just joined in the discussion.  We all learn from each other and so this is great for me too.

Thanks must be made to Vince, Milkit, thetinnedman and timmy amongst many others who have really helped keep the blog moving, and special mention has to be made to Mirosol who has built like a machine for the past couple of months and verified maybe 30 or 40 layouts himself in a very short time.

I don't think we'll reach 300 quite as quickly, I'm slowing down a bit because I've become very busy with work again (as happens from time to time) and so the layouts take a bit of a back seat, so I'm not expecting too many 70 layout months like February in the near future.  But I'm still going to try to get at least 10 new layouts a month posted up which I'm sure will be enough to keep everyone busy enough.

Thanks again guys, this site wouldn't be the same without you

Mark

  1. Dude, you'll make me blush! (big kiss-ass moment). I think extra special thanks needs to go to yourself good sir. That amazing grey matter of yours, your patience & tolerance & downright ultra coolness is what got me into pedal building in a very big way. If it weren't for you, I'd have one homemade fuzz pedal that doesn't really work in my arsenal. So thank you Mark! You're a legend matey!

    1. I second that!... My first ever build (meathead) nearly had me in the asylum! so all thanks to you matey... There are plenty on here that I've yet to build so I'll be busy regardless of your 'back seat' ;o)

      Thanks again mate ;o)

  2. Congratulations. I have to agree about the patience. I know I ask the same questions over and over and you always answer them. I have a decent collection of boxes, thanks to you. And they work! Great site, thank you for all the heavy lifting and here's to the next 100

  3. I second everything that's been written above. This is a website I check every day for new stuff, and even more because I keep wanting to build most things you post. I'm really thankful for what you do and I wait patiently for every layout because I realise that you have other things to do as well.

    Again, thanks for everything!

  6. Thank you Mark! I've learned a lot over last couple of months!

I had a discussion with a co-worker some time ago, about the time when i had built something like 10 or so (I'm tech support by day and he's a senior programmer).. Main point of the conversation was, that it's pretty much the same thing with building these as it is with writing code; No matter how much you read and/or study it, you don't really learn anything - You just have to do it and play with it to learn. With code, hobbyist can learn things and share what they have learned. And when someone helps make that learning easier, it benefits more people (than just me as the builder). Reading books on the subject can't tell you how something sounds. This is perfect hobby for me, as i just love to see the "magic" happen. Meaning the moment when a bunch of components light up and give you something you've never experienced at first hand. I guess i'm getting a bit philosophical here :) But it just feels good to be part of something. So one more time, Thanks Mark! This blog has been great thing for me. I bet you don't have much regrets about whitching to vero :)

Let's take on the 250 next! There's still work tomorrow and then i'm getting ready for midsummer celebrations and i will be away from my desk for a few days.. On a friend's sailing boat, drinking beer..

I'm planning on giving a try for my own circuit soon. I've done some drawings and i've been thinking about it a lot.. I can promise that it won't be 1:1 copy of anything, but i can't promise that it will sound good :D We'll see.

Someone should probably inform Guinness book of records about Mark! :)

Anyway. Keep 'em coming! We be building!

  7. Congrats Mark! The rate at which you pump these vero layouts out is staggering. I reckon you should set yourself the target of doing one layout for every point Man Utd earn next season ;-)

  8. Ha ha, unless we buy a midfield pretty damn sharpish that may be easier than I would like it to be! :o)

And thanks everyone for your words of support.

  11. Great work Mark.....I agree with milkit, that you have launched many people like me into the hobby of pedalbuilding and now it is like tasting blood, you can never stop. And as mirosol stated maybe we should inform Guinness book of records about you; Man the speed at which you have uploaded these veros is just awesome..... Keep up the good work.

  12. :) Just noticed, that from January to March 2012, Mark has published 128 layouts. I think it's only fair that we verified 100 in following three months.
