Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. VFE Pedals Dragon Hound
"The DRAGON HOUND is a dual overdrive + distortion pedal that combines
the core circuits from the Alpha Dog and Pale Horse into one unique dirt
box. Each circuit has a dedicated drive control, and the blend control
can dial in saturated distortion tones that retain the clarity of an
overdrive."

That was quick. Only just saw the request. Nice layout. Must build soon. Cheers Alex!
ReplyDeleteseeing this i was wondeimg how can i add a blend pot for dual offboard wiring?
ReplyDeleteThe A-P pot is a "Blend" between the Alpha Dog and the Pale Horse. What do you mean a Blend for dual offboard wiring?
Deleteimagine you have 2 effects, in one box with 2 switches, you can have use one at the time, or both effects on, (1 Ts and 2 fuzz face) I want a blend pot for mix both pedals, the pot in middle position is both eefects mixed to the right ts only and to the left the sound of fuzz face, thats the idea
DeleteI THINK with pedals that have equal and low output impedance (they have to be pretty much equal) you will be able to get away with just a simple passive blend (essentially a pot of the right size).
DeleteFor everything else you will need a buffered (active) blend like e.g. the splitter-blend of rog is using http://runoffgroove.com/splitter-blend.html
Is it possible to substitute two B5k pots inplace of the B10k A.P pot? I'm thinking this would give more blending options of the two circuits.I'm building this circuit now and plan to try this out if anyone is interested in the results?
ReplyDeleteI have the board built and populated now just have to wire it up today.soon as i get some sounds out of it i'll report back.Hope this helps
ReplyDeleteOK I have built this almost exact to this vero layout.Only thing i changed is the Comp trim is now a B100k pot.Row two is leg 3 on comp pot and row three is leg 2 on the comp pot.So this is verified now,Thank you very very much Alex.I have built the Plimsoul befor this but i think this circuit is soooo much better sounding.I'm going to try replacing the A-P pot with two B5k pots and see if this mod will work. Thanks again Alex and everyone involved
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris!
DeleteI'm still in the tweaking process with this circuit.for some reason the Alpha Dog side on my build doesnt seem to be as loud as the Pale Horse side.I'm working on a way to correct this.I'll post my results asap.
ReplyDeleteThanx a lot for this layout! (I wrote the request...)
ReplyDeleteI will build this as a present for a friend :-)
I added two B5k pots inplace of the one B10k A-P pot.Now i can get alot more control between the two circuits.I love the sound of this thing, its definitly my main OD/Distortion now.Lug 2 of A-P pot will go to lug 1 of both A and B of the (5k) pots lug 1 of A-P is the Alpha circuit goes to lug 2 of the first 5kpot and then lug 3 of A-P pot is the Palehorse circuit, this will go to lug 2 of the second 5k pot.it works great thank you Alex and everyone involved. This site is just awsome
