    3. Fixed. And there was a discussion if it really would be 1N43A due to silkscreen label on the original pcb. I'm fairly certain it's a typo and the classic germanium 1N34A is more than suitable. I bet any Ge would be fine. Also. The 120K/82K junction is another question. However, i'm fairly certain there's no audible difference between these approximations and the original.

    2. Schematic bat46, layout bat41

    3. Almost certainly only because of cost does he use the bat46 now vs the bat41 which were used in the zen drive bat46 being the cheaper one to buy

it's a zen drive for the part of the circuit and the original uses bat41 diodes so you can decide for yourself as either will work

  5. F*it. There's still one cut missing from ic pin 8 row. I'll fix it later today. This is what you'll get when you're trying to beat everyone else to the layout the second the schem is out.

    1. Seriously! I've had one sitting in my Reverb cart for weeks, and was just about to pull the trigger on it.

Best Fourth of July ever, thank you!

  7. Verified! Volume 1 and 3 need flipped and Gain is backwards also. Does that mean Gain 2&3 should be top and Gain 1 goes to were gain 3 is now? I'll change them now. Mine does seem quite noisy but it is unboxed.

    1. Changed. Gain 1&2 needs to swap with Gain 3. Sounds similar to the vid but my playing is soooooo no way as good. It probably needs shielded wire as background hiss is quite loud.

    2. You probably had an older image version with the volume pot leads? I swapped the gain labels and tagged it! Cheers!

  8. Hi, i have a problem with this circuit, with a guitar volume at zero and gain at max makes the motorboat noise. I tried to adjust the trimmer but the noise goes away when it is at its maximun and the sound is good to half gain.

  9. Some pedals do this, it's an input impedance thing. If you put a buffer in front of the circuit that should fix it. Personally I wouldn't bother because I don't need pedals on when my guitar is turned all the way down

  10. I've built this circuit, and I was getting broken noise from it due to cables attaching pots. When the gain was up at full I got a really deep buzz from the pedal. After swithcing the wires, I get no sound at all. Instead of the 1N5817 I used a 1N4148, and instead of the 1N34A I used a 1N4001. Could these be the source of the issue? I did some research and it seemed these would both be suitable replacements. Also, I'm just completely stumped as to why it DOESN'T work when I switched the cables to pots for unbroken cables that work. I did continuity testing on the cables and they're absolutely fine, so does anyone have any ideas? I'm really getting irritated by it. I checked all pots, resistors, caps etc. All of my soldering seems ok.

I did switch the 120k for a 100k as I didn't have 120 available, and the 82k for 68k for the same reason. Do I need to use the exact parts for each? Any help is greatly appreciated

  11. This circuit has been revised by the guy who originally traced it. He found a mistake with the 100nf that goes to the 120k resistor on the right side. First use a link instead of the 100n cap. Next, add the 100n cap with one leg going to the bottom leg of the 120k resistor. The other leg of the 100nf cap goes to ground.

  12. I think the 100n at the input is also incorrect. Looking at typical lovepedal fuzzes it seems like it should be a 4.7n

I was having strange motorboating and osciallation with the guitar volume at 10 or zero and changing to 4.7n seemed to fix it.
