The goal was to build a “clean-boost” pedal that would supply additional bottom end and sustain when needed. The pedal would have to provide a boost that would not alter the original quality of the amplifiers natural tone. Most important, was to not add a “nasal” tone like the other pedals in his effects graveyard.

Nice job man. I had this one waiting in the wings to do, but hadn't gotten around to it. Supposed to be a real nice boost/OD.
ReplyDeleteTag it. It's actually a really nice boost with a little grit at the high gain settings. The compression is pretty subtle, but it's supposed to be. I lie it better than the show cause that one colors my tone too much.

DeleteHey Kirshman how's the tone control on yours, mine seems to not be doing much.....
Deleteit's pretty subtle through most of the sweep, but in the last 1/8th of the turn makes a pretty big difference. Seems to mostly effect the highs, but also some of the mids. Not as drastic as some of the tone knobs on here for sure, but noticable.

DeleteHey thanks a lot for this layout I've been interested in this pedal for awhile, question; either I've made a mistake or this is a very subtle tone control, I'm not sure I notice a difference can you advise.

DeleteD6 is indeed for polarity protection, i would build the rest and still order that diode, you can than just cut the trace and add it!

ReplyDeleteWhat are folks using as the CLR resistor? I have yet to run across this in my builds and it has me stumped.
ReplyDeleteThere is no set value for the CLR, as it's the current limiting resistor for the LED. Use whatever value you would use when wiring up an LED offboard. Personally I like my LEDs to be bright, so I normally use 2.2k, a lot of guys use 4.7k, but really you can use anything as long as it's not 0r, as the LED would blow. Remember that the lower the value the brighter the LED.
