Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Nocentelli MMR Fuzz
Description for this outide-the-box-thinking fuzz circuit is up at freestompboxes with the original schematic. Seems rather nice.

Cool, the description and schematic do look interesting indeed. Should give it a try someday soon.
ReplyDeleteHey Miro, I noticed a little problem on the layout. We need a trace cut at N-E (14x5) right above emitter of Q2.
ReplyDeleteAh. I'll check it once back at home.

Fixed. Thanks for noticing!

Nocentelli:
"I figure some people may well have a 100kB dual-gang pot kicking around if they've ever built a klon (for the bass control), but it can be replaced with a single gang 100kB in front of the first stage or omitted altogether (replace 10n with 100n and lose the 1uF + pot gang)"
I had two separate 100kB pots alligator clipped in for the bass control, and I would build it with just one the single-gang bass control like he suggested.
Sounds about like the demo he posted. I liked it best with the gain up high, but mine squeals at max gain.
At a first sight I see the 100R and the 1N4001 going from 9v to... nowhere, and connected each other.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the schematic the 100R should be in line to the 9v (just this could solve the squeal problem), and the 1M4001 has the negative side on the 9v and the positive side to the ground.
Try to move those parts, I think it's easy enough, and let us to know, please. :)
There's a cut under the 680n cap between the diode and 100R resistor, so the layout gives you: 9V > 1N4001 > 100R in series
DeleteThanks! I didn't see it.
DeleteI got squeal from some fuzz circuits as the Woolly Mammoth or a Foxx Tone Machine kind of. It's a power supply issue, at least in my case, beacuse with a battery I got no problem at all.
Sometime we can solve it with another PSU.
I can't try a thing so soon, but I really love to see if an inductor in line with the 9v can solve definitely the squeal problem in these two pedals. I can't find the page where I read this information long time ago, but it should be the best noise filter.
