A revelation. Stripped down all out amp pusher. The Revelation has a trio of controls. Pre Gain, Gain, and Volume. LOTS of volume. Pre Gain sets the overall gain level of the device, the gain control dials in the correct amount of distortion and the volume knob absolutely slays the front end of your amp. Think of the Revelation as an extension of your amp’s pre section. Use it to push your amp into super creamy saturation, use it to boost your riffs into full and thick exaggerations of your amp’s base tone. The Revelation does not alter your tone, just makes MORE of it. Choose the Revelation to hammer your amp.
The SuperBass version of the Revelation is a rounder, more dynamic take on the circuit. A bit bassier, gruffer, throatier sound. Works equally well for guitar or bass, choose the SuperBass for a fuller, fatter sound.
After looking at the schematic it seems like a really stripped down big muff, and I mean stripped down. In particular it's basically the Pharaoh without the tonestack.
On Bass:
On Guitar:
"it seems like a really stripped down big muff" Yes, the Pharaoh Supreme w/ 2nd stage clipping and tone stack bypassed.
ReplyDeleteBAT also made this as the no-knob Oath. Am I right in thinking this could be achieved by taking input directly to where Pregain connected to the board, output where Volume 3 was, and replacing Gain with a jumper between the two 470nF caps?
ReplyDeleteWould be good to know as the BAT Destroyer is the Oath into the Ritual in one box :)
not sure. i took a look at the guts of the oath, and there's a single pot wired on the board. i didn't trace the original circuit so i don't know what the internal control is for. could be volume could be gain or pregain.
DeleteThe guts you see it's a moded version with an added pot (https://reverb.com/uk/item/297190-black-arts-toneworks-oath)
DeleteThe original version seems to be this one:

ok. looking at that picture of the oath, and someone that tried to mod theirs to match the revelation superbass i think i figure out the values. posted a new layout for the oath.
DeleteHey, great I will make it, can you just remove my name from the post you did for the OATH, replace with VisualFuzz
DeleteThanks
You can verify this. My gain pot was in reverse but that could be me. I built it in a hurry to be able to take it to a band practice today. Great work. I've been looking out for this for months.
ReplyDeleteBuilt one of these but replaced the 2 100Ω emitter resistors with 560Ω to drop the gain as I found it was filthier than I need.
ReplyDeleteGreat effect though.
I'd like to correct a mistake on this one: If you look at the Pharaoh this is based on, the input cap of 10uF is reversed. The input signal comes in at the - and the + goes to the bass of the transistor.
ReplyDeleteaccording to the schematic it's the way i have it in the layout, same way i have it in the oath. with that said, i did think that was a mistake. i made the change to both layouts. cheers man.
DeleteUsed my build of this for the first time 'in anger' today. Glad I took it, as the amp provided by the venue (SWR Workingman Combo) was as clean as a whistle. Nice to dirty things up a little bit...
ReplyDeleteHEllo, I didn't find 6k resitors. Could i repclace them with 5k6 or may be 6k2 ? Or if it's very important to have 6k, i could add a 400r in serial. Thank you for your help
ReplyDeletethat would be nice to know
Deleteis there a different between 100k and 100r resistorts?
ReplyDeleteyes. 100k resistors is 100 kilo-ohms, while 100r is 100 ohms.
Deletethanks, i just got back in the building business after 4 years of pause haha
DeleteHey I build this its great and pretty close to the original love the way it's LOUD and almost transparent. I found the treble get's a little rolled off. if there was a way to build a treble tone control into this it would be dynamite!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same .the pedal is a little muffled sounding .I'd love to be able to add just a little more high end.
DeleteDude, it’s called the SUPER BASS, so of course there’s a lot of bass. I posted the layout for the SUPER LEAD version, which has more high end. You should be able to easily change one to the other.
Deleteis there something i can do to make it louder?
