Noah'sArk Distortion "M"

Not much info around of this japanese "Marshall in a box" type distortion. It does sound pretty good though.. Junko seems a bit nervous on the demo.

  1. Another great post! Congratulations! It would be really nice if you included the schematics...

    1. I really do hope people would stop bitching about this same issue over and over.

The schematic drawing image IS copyrighted artwork. Intellectual property of the person who has drawn it. Since we do not draw those ourselves, we would need the permission of the author to publish their work. Only exceptions are the schematics we have drawn ourselves.

Since we are able to find the schematic drawings, you should be able to do so too. If not, then i suggest you brush up on your google skills.

      Get it?

Now, if you want to buy sPlan or similar schematic application and redraw the ~1100 designs featured here with notion that the "copyright" belongs to tagboardeffects.blogspot.com - we'd be more than happy to accept those donations and post them.

But. For now. All of you. Stop bitching about irrelevant shit.

    2. If I may I don't see anyone bitching here, just a poster asking nicely something that is asked over and over. maybe Adiel is new here ? No reason to get offended and answer in such a rude manner. My 2 cents

    3. Second Alltrax. My bad. Bad morning and and first thing i read is yet another request for posting a schematic. I was slightly off with my behaviour. Apologies to Adiel.

  3. After watching several other demos I have to say this pedal looks very promising ...I'm building it, will report back with results.

  4. The 1uF and 2u2 caps are hermetically sealed tantalum capacitors.

    1. True. But how those will affect the sound is another thing. I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning.

I am no Eric Johnson so I would not be able to tell... imo
that 1uF cap should be a nos panasonic film cap ;-)

  6. Verified, works perfectly as laid out and sounds pretty much spot on to the various demos. So far I'm fairly impressed, if I had to make a comparison I'd liken it to a crunch box but nastier in a good way, almost certainly a keeper here.

Per Leo's comment, I did use tants for the 2.2u & 1u caps without any obvious problems. Might fool around later and swap in electros for a comparison. Anyway, thanks a boatload for this one Miro, quality Marshall-in-a-box pedals that don't involve a handful of J201's are a rarity so this was much appreciated!

    2. Awesome Gainiac! Will be interesting to know if those Tants make a diff... This pedal is on my to do list! I love these kind of dirt boxes :)

    3. Got sidetracked tonight but plan to do some tweaking on this tomorrow. So just to be clear, you're saying factory specs are tantalum for both 2.2u caps and a 105 panasonic film for the 1u cap, right? Thanks for the details btw!

  7. Friendly reminder:
We should probably try not to use tantalum, regardless of possible advantages in terms of size or even sound, if you believe that sort of thing.
    Tantalum is a conflict mineral!

    1. I did not know that! Now I do. Just read up a bit on that. Apparently Kemet is supposed to be "conflict free"

  8. In the schematic the input cap is 22nf, in the layout you have 220nf. typo maybe?

    1. You can look at the Caline CP-16 Mark 4 Distortion. It should be the same schematic.
