So the other day I was looking over some of the info RnFR has posted on Apocalypse Audio and came across some pedal designs that caught my eye. I ended up sitting and doing a couple layouts for a few of them.
Here's the sixth version of the dirty boots. It's a germanium overdrive based on the first version, but i with a couple extra controls. There's a pre-bass and post-treble tone control combo that's based on similar methods used in many distortion pedals.
Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Enjoy the builds and please also visit us on Facebook and Twitter
I built this version off my own layout a few months back, and I like it quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in the Version 6 schematic I was using, Gain is 10kB. Did RnfR change it back from before?
Also, if you use the specified GT313A's, mind the pinout as the saying goes :)
Deleteyea the only datasheet i found was in russian, which i can't read. instead of assuming what the pinout is i went with something more familiar, and a lot of alternate Ge's have as far as pinout.
Deletechecking over the schematic again version 6 does have a 10kB pot, while version 5 has a 25kB. since i made the layout for version 5 first and rearranged it for version 6 i probably forgot to change it in the build notes to a 10kB. the only think i can see happening with a 25kB gain pot vs 10kB gain pot is you'll get more gain out of it.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to add the 5th version's Pre-Gain on the 6th ?
Input to Pre3 and Pre2 to Bass3 is fine ?
So what HFe are we looking for on these transistors?

ReplyDeleteshould be low gain. there wasn't specific range mentioned.
