Thanks for this - I'm just visually comparing it to the Bass Fuzz, and those 500pF caps look a little lost (and located slightly differently) when compared to the Bass Fuzz's 1nFs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this tho' :-)
Verified! Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, cheers Cliff
Deleteit seems to me that a capacitor is missing ,between Volume3 and tone 2, and 220n capacitor on the collector of q1, which should be 0.1 uf
ReplyDeleteGood call. Did miss those completely. Now fixed.
Delete+m
I just made the changes on the pedal, now is perfect ;)
ReplyDeletethanks for the layout, great job!
anyone know a suitable replacement for bc184c? I'm having trouble finding any at reasonable prices. Preferably something mouser carries. :)
ReplyDeleteI used BC109C with a good result, approximately 500 hfe
DeleteThanks for the advice. One last question. I dont have any 3nf on hand. But I do have some 3.3nf and 2.7nf How much would eaither change the tone do you think and which one would you go with?
DeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteI think you can use the 3n3 capacitor, better than the 2n7, I've also used a 3n3 and for me the sound is very clear, with the tone control wide open( for my taste too treble), for me a 4n would be better, like a big muff ...or even larger
I think it does not affect much the original sound, there is not much difference between a 3n3 and a 3n...
regards
Tony
Aw. This one doesn't work for me, I've just been checking over it for hours.
ReplyDeleteOn Bryant's schematic, there appears to be a 22 uF cap going from 9v to ground. The bass fuzz has 47 uF like you have in this schematic, did you miss it or was it a mistake in the original schematic? I doubt this will make it work for me though.

ReplyDeleteThis might be the only Big Muff variant I really like! Meaty and gruff without that cloying smoothness. The tone stack isn't as scooped either, but it also doesn't have that hugeness a BM gets in the full bass position if you need that in your rig.
ReplyDeleteDigging it hard.
Is this the final layout?
