Shoe Song

Zero information around about this circuit. The schematic is signed by Alquinta, and the design looks really nice. Only info i could easily find was the little note on the bottom schematic file: "Bass overdrive with a dirty edge (Low to Med Gain)" The transistors (Q1-Q3) can be 2N5089, BC549C or similar.

    I recognise the name from the *shudders* Negistrem, it's Nordine from diystompboxes.com. It looks like it's another post from one of the FX-X competitions they were doing there. Not much more info but:

    It`s all part off the fun and it helps the learning process, i`ve done a few layouts of my own, double and triple checked them, been happy enough to build them THEN found i had missed/misplaced a cut/link. As you know from the number of layouts you`ve verified, half the thrill is in verifying it works.

      Also true. Plus i checked today - i have 55 layouts in my verified folder. So i must be doing something right :)

      Not many.. Those 7 layout days are too hard to keep up with. Plus i'm figuring out couple of bigger ones at the moment.

      Now i don't have any finished ones in que after today's posts. But i do have more time now than i used to :) I'll try to draw one per day if i just can find reasonable schematics. So.. Off to the request section of the forum you go!

    Well the circuit works...far too late here to have a blast to give a real description of sound and knob orientation etc....it acts kinda like a bass boost with a bit of grit..( typical overdrive i guess ? )its on my test rig at present so like i said...not sure if the knobs are acting correctly...amps on too quiet to get anymore that a change in volume .I will give it a proper going over tomorrow ....thanks for the layout

    ok..so ive had a bit of a thrash with it...having no idea what the original operates like..this is what ive got...the Meat has a higher treble tone at fully anti clockwise moving on to a deeper sound, so possibly need switching to work in the conventional way...the grain works in the opposite manner
    Both meat and grain seem to have the same function...a kinda tone control ( maybe im doing something wrong here as I dont seem to have a gain increase control )...volume works as you would expect....switch gives a slight variation..but is there none the less

    I built this one yesterday. I found it to be WAY too tubby, and the bass boost adds even more low end to a pedal that has too much already. my meat and gain controls work properly (but I prefer the meat control to be brighter CW so I reversed the leads on it. I ended up socketing ALOT of the components and have made a bass OD that is much more to my liking. it'll now go from completely clean (and nearly transparent) to a standard overdrive with a lot of low end, but without being muddy.

    Cool OD, I made a mod where I omited the 8,2 k Resistor with a 10k pot so the low end is variable.
    Furthermore I put another pot between bass switch 1 and the switch (a DPDT stompswitch) so the boost is a variable boost.
