Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Oh my god this is an amazing idea! Gotta try it out. The original sounds great but I think Madbean has done great things with vintage circuits.
ReplyDeleteDelicious!
ReplyDeleteI think the direct line derivation was from the Zvex Octane 3.
ReplyDeleteDocumentation doesn't have any indication of that. And since it's clearly a slightly modified derivative of the FM-2/Standard Fuzz/you-name-it, i saw no point in referencing ZVex...

The product menu made the comparison back when I bought the board years ago. I wouldn't be too surprised if somebody did the tone knob rather than the switch before ZVex--so many versions--but it hasn't come to my attention yet. Still, it's nitpicking. In my mind it's a Superfuzz.
DeleteThat's one of the mods that has been done over and over. Almost like guessing who was the first to up the high pass filter cap from inverting input of a Tubescreamer circuit... I find it quite interesting if this is 1:1 with Johnny Octave. I see one design flaw in there :)

Ive built it. It works as it should i think 'cause i pick up radio :).
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try other trannies and diodes when i box it to see if i can make it less crazy.
Just built this one and it works fine but its ever so quiet on its own i have had to louder pedals in front to give it a boost. Any ideas how to make it have a bit more volume\balls? Thanks in advance.

ReplyDeleteDeleted last comment as i thought i should thoroughly check my build. Did so and it is working perfectly. Definitely a pedal with major gain and noise when boosted by another pedal but just quiet on its own. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHi Gavin,
DeleteIt shouldn't be quiet at all. Mine is really loud.
