Request, YABM!
Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Enjoy the builds and please also visit us on Facebook and Twitter
So.. It's verbatim to triangle with 120n caps in place of 100ns. Somehow all the BMP variants just make me smile :)

The tone stack is different too, this is very scooped in the tone stack sim which is why I had to greatly increase the caps on the switch to give you a flat and boosted response. Plus the minimum sustain resistor is a lot bigger so it should be quite a bit dirtier in the fully CCW rotation and a couple of other slight value variations, but yeah it's certainly close enough to know exactly where it's come from! :o)
Deletewhich program do you use to create this vero layouts?
ReplyDeleteSomebody build this :) I have too many BMPs and BMP variants... :)

Tag it.
ReplyDeleteI did a few slight mods, but the layout is still valid. I don't know why, but i've grown to dislike switches a lot lately. I even bought a batch of better quality switches than the usual cheapo crap, but now i'm just leaning towards minimum control/versatility... Anyway. I omitted the switch and subbed the 4n with 68n for slight rise for the tone stack middle curve. I used 8K2 in place of 7K5s. For cliping diodes i used 1N60Ps, which i hadn't used for BMP before (Let's just all face it. All these are basically just BMPs :)), and it's not bad. Maybe not as loud as your average BMP, but there is another viable explanation for that too.. I used 2N2222 (measuring 300-330 hFE) for transistors and that makes it much smoother. I also went with B100K pots for all three as the muff always works fine with both, log and lin pots.
One thing about the layout itself.. I've always used a wire from top to bottom row over all the components on other BMP layouts, as i just hate to have two grounds on one board. Started to build this and noticed that this has a link there by default! Thanks! You read my mind!
Makes a good alternative to basic BMP. I just have too many of those.. :) This will get a box, but it's not currently very high on my boxing list.

Nice one man. I thought you had enough muffs! :o)
DeleteSo did i :D
DeleteThose tiny mods made this somewhat different, so it's definitely worth boxing. 1N60Ps suit it even better than i imagined. Maybe i should have used 1N4007s for the other stage... Nah. It's good as it is.
I had to do some other stuff today, so i didn't get to sink in to the zone. Tomorrow is hopefully a better day :)

Love the comments both you guys make! If one looks a bit deeper, he can learn something! Where do you get the schematics for all these boarded effects? Steve G.
ReplyDeleteMan, if you like a fuzz with sustain until the end of time, this is your pedal! Play a power chord, go out and get a bite, come back and you'll still be hearing that one.
