Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. nice!!! thanks ;)
ReplyDeleteany subst for the J112
DeleteAny JFET should work.

Does SW 1,6 amd SW 3,4 mean that these contact are connected with each other?
ReplyDeleteIt does. They are connected.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Thanks Alex!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to finally building this one...
Yup. This one may be tagged.
ReplyDeleteDecent sounding thing indeed.

And now that i've played with it for a while, i do think it's better than OC-2. And with that, better than most analog down octaves.

Cool!
DeleteThanks Miro!
Hey Mirosol does this do that flutter that the boss pedal does? Terrible demo with chorus on it sounds like it does but chorus could be what i am hearing . I guess i am wondering if its more like a polyphonic micro pog or not. Those dont do it. The tender octave doesnt either. I want to build one if it doesnt do that shiummer flutter thing the boss pedals do i have a pitch shifter ps-3 and its so annoying ha ha
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I wanted to build one for a long time, and now finally have. Valve Wizard stuff is great, the sub octave on this is way better than the mxr blue box or arion octaver.
ReplyDeleteOn my build used an ne5532 instead of lm833. Have some lm833 coming my way in the mail, will compare when they get here.
I am having an issue, in that there is a lot of high-frequency noise in the clean signal. If I crank the mix up, it's fine- the octave down signal is clean- but it is very noticeable at 50% mix and below. I've switched all of the ICs out, reflowed all the solders, scraped between the strips. From looking at the schematic and the layout, it seems the problem I would be having would be between the tl074 and mix 1, which is a straight shot. I'll check one more time for shorts around there when I get a chance, but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.
Thanks!
I wonder if my batch of ti cd4013be's could be to blame. My blue box was also pretty noisey. Is there a better/more appropriate 4013 to use?
DeleteShould really use an LM833 for this project.
DeleteIf you use something else, you need to add a 10M resistor between pin 5 and 8.
LM833 still have not shown up, but I will use one when they do arrive. ne5532 did work well, tracked better than any other octaver i have tried, and is not part of the clean signal path (which is where my problem is). interestingly, when i put it on the pedalboard between a few buffers, the noise went away. Guitar player 'accidentally' took it home with him, so i might need to build another...
Deletedid you ever resolve that high frequency noise issue? i'm having the same thing happen with mine and i'm using the 833 too. I also notice that sometimes mine jumps between the sub octave and octave when i'm holding a note. is this normal (related to tracking?) or is there something else afoot in my build?
DeleteHi, (Sensei Tim) did you solve this problem? I´m use it for bassguitar and mine also do this, I checked everything twice but i didn´t find a mistake. If yes could you write a recommendation please? Or someone else if you have an opinion what can be wrong, i´ll be very thankfull.
DeleteI haven't had the time to try to bug fix this yet.
Deleteok, I tried it with LM833. Not much difference in tracking, and I may be imagining that it is a bit more distorted than the ne5532. But not in a bad way.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great octaver. If I build another I may try to boost the clean signal a bit to get around a small volume dip at the settings i like to use, but that's really not a big deal.
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know what Track knob for?
And what function has 100k trimpot?
Thanks.
Hello, I know this is a newbie-ish question, but how would you mod this layout to eliminate the blend and instead send octave down and dry signal to different output jacks?
ReplyDeletethank alex

Heya! I build this, it sounds amazing, but i have only distorted signal - there is no clean suboctave signal possible. Have i done something wrong?
ReplyDeletethanks - Lu
Hi, I've have built this, but I only get a 60Hz square wave on the synth side of the output (clean side of the mix comes through fine). Audio trace tells me this first appears at the 2nd op-amp stage (bottom left of the TL074). I've been over my build with a fine-toothed comb, but no luck. Anyone have an idea at what I screwed up?
