After the recent Screaming Bird and Hogs Foot posts I mentioned having them both switchable in the same circuit and someone has asked me to post details so this is what I meant. You can get a 4PDT switch cheaply on eBay, and if you were considering building both this will save you the price of a second box and footswitch, so you know it makes sense!
Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Enjoy the builds and please also visit us on Facebook and Twitter

EHX Screaming Hog
Request. Sounds like something from Deliverance.

I see it. Sooner or later someone will build this and use angry birds on one side of the switch and pigs from angry birds on the other... :)

Ha ha, go on do it!!
DeleteI'd call it 'Animal Farm'... The Orwell version of course!
DeleteThat's a great idea too! If you'll build "Animal Farm", i'll build "Angry Boosts"... :)

I will no doubt get around to it but I have so many on the list that I have parts arriving that I have no idea what they're for!
DeleteI see something and order!... lol, then forget and see something else.. It's all good though as it means I have parts ready to build most things :) apart from 4PDT's!... eBay here we go again ;o)
Sourcing parts is part of the FUN!

Verified.
ReplyDeleteHad some issues with noise on Screaming Bird side, but seems that after battling it for a while the issue vanished. So it works.
Whoa that Hog's Foot is thick.

Nice one, you've definitely won the verifying award of the week! :o)
DeleteI also had some issues with noise on the screaming bird side but a touch of sag on the voltage and it was gone, no detrimental effect on the hogs foot as a result of the sag :-). As a side note, after building the psuedo reverb i only had a 7 row by 20 strip of vero left (postman better deliver on monday lol} managed to fit this in by adding a cut before the emitter popping the 2n cap in from b to e and moving sw3 wire to the other side of the board, job done :-).
ReplyDeleteNice one. I didn't make it particularly compact when I did this, but you could also lose a column on the other side by rejigging slightly, so I've done a new version with both changes. Thanks for the info, maybe an inbuilt sag control would be useful with this one then?

Possibly silly question, but the switch would switch between Screaming Tree and Hog Foot, yes? without an 'effect off' setting? Would it be more convenient to have two switches, one to toggle Screaming/Hog, one to turn the effect on/off? Also, I'm thinking of building one of these for a friend of mine, and call it "the Screaming Mole" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moll_(slang))
