Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Enjoy the builds and please also visit us on Facebook and Twitter
Hey IvIark
ReplyDeleteis this verified?
Thanks
EVAD
Yes, this one has been built by several people now
ReplyDeleteCOOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the sweet layouts
tagboard RULES!!!
Hello Ivlark what would be the difference between the two almost identical COT50's (not the Briggs mod)
ReplyDeleteThe two layouts on here are essentially the same, just that one is a tagboard layout, the other is vero. The only difference is that the vero layout has an additional cap for power supply filtering which I omitted from the tag layout to save space. It shouldn't make any audible difference though unless you have a dubious supply that causes noise. The vero also has a switch to take the diodes out of circuit, but most people will want them in anyway so it's not a necessary mod.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great drive. Just built it.

The pic links seem to have truncated and don't work. Sounds great though
DeleteWeird. Trying once again

Many thanks for the great layout (and all the others). Fabulous! :) Now I still have 11 pos length of tagboard :) So should decide what to make next.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just built one cot50 but all I hear is like an motorcycle engine when on, when off just the guitar bypassed, the 330r resistor is a 330 ohm resistor same thing on the 47r is it a 47 ohm? please let me know, thanks!
ReplyDeletea motorcycle, sorry, I used the same on the layout
ReplyDeleteYes, Lucas, 47r means 47 ohms.
DeleteHi, I just confuse what is 1K Lin Bias Pots mean? Is it just normal 1K linear pots?
ReplyDeleteYes, bias just refers to what the potentiometer actually does.
DeleteCheers
Dave
Hi - the input cap is shopwing here as 4n7, yet on the modded Church... it states a change from 47n to 56n... for added thickness. I'm assuming that the 4n7 here should be 47n... as 4n7 would be quite bright?
ReplyDeleteWould it cause issues if i used a 100k pot instead of 1k?
ReplyDeleteYou would have more than 99% of useless sweep on the turn.
Delete+m
Scratching my head on this one ... thought it would be open and shut. I've built two, and neither one is working. When the effect is on I can hear the 'crackle' when I adjust the bias, but output is nil to *very* low. I've tried two different offboard wiring styles and flipping / different transistors. Anyone else ever encounter something similar?
ReplyDeleteFYI: I am using a 2n5088 tranny and 1n4148 diodes.
Post the transistor pin voltages and a front and back pic of the board.

DeleteThe pin voltages are:
DeleteC: 2.37
B: 2.36
E: 1.73
I got a base power rating at 9.42v. I didn't include a pic of bottom of board, everything is on top.
Decided to try a different Electra layout and realized that I was using a 2.2k resistor instead of a 2.2m the whole time. Nothing to see here folks ... move along ... sounds great.
ReplyDeleteDoh! We've all done that before. Glad it's working.
DeleteHi! Ive just built this and it does absolutely NOTHING... No footswitch instaled, turning the pot does nothing, the signal is not degraded. The resistors are as on the scheme. Im no newbie its a real mystery whats going on. Whsts even more confusing, whenbi plug the power suply out the signal is still there but distorted and fart-like. Any ideas? :)
ReplyDeleteMeasure the voltages of the transistor. That gives the best clue to what is going wrong with it
DeleteE-1,90
ReplyDeleteB-2,40
C-9,66
Output 9.6 DC 200mA
Would there be a difference in sound if it were fed at 18V?
ReplyDeleteSorry to comment on something so old but I've been trying to figure out if the mark axial aluminum cap refers to the indent on the positive end or if it refers to the negative side. Thanks!
