Lovepedal Purple Plexi 800

A lot of people have said this is a great "Marshall in a box" and it's a pretty simple circuit so worth a try.  I did a big axial mojo layout for this a while ago, but have re-done it here using more commonly used (and space friendly) components.

It's funny but it occurred to me when doing this how similar it is to the Krank Distortus Maximus that I did a layout for a few weeks ago.  It's so unlike Lovepedal to use someone elses designs ........ ermwait ..

Update: Here's a slightly smaller version which allows you to use standard 9 row vero and so will be preferable for most people.  This is verified.

ZVex Woolly Mammoth - vero

I had a request for a vero of the Mastotron, so here's the Woolly Mammoth which is virtually the same, with the Mastotron just having an additional 100K linear pot which the input is taken to before the first capacitor. 

The new input wiring with the Relax/Pull pot can be seen on my tagboard layout here:

And Finally. In case anyone runs into problems, here are thevoltages from a working board with all the pots maxed.
Supply at 9,33V
Q1 Emitter: 0V, Base 0,58V, Collector 1,2V
Q2 Emitter: 0,88V, Base 1,2V, Collector 2,3V
Yours should be around 10% away from these.

Gary Hurst Tonebender MKI

 

Like the last one, a bit of a pain but the Gary Hurst version is slightly more forgiving I believe.  Again don't forget to cut the trimmer legs that are shown over the -9V rail, there should be no connection there.  This is based on the original Gary Hurst MkI because the reissue was in reality a MkII.  Maybe Gary thought the MkI's are a pain as well! :o)

Updated 31st January 2014:  A lot of people have mentioned that the trimmers in this aren't as important as finding the correct transistors, so I'd recommend building this version which omits the trimmers entirely and puts the fixed resistors back.

Make sure you use sockets for the transistors and prepare yourself to audition plenty! :o)
