Black Arts Toneworks Revelation Super Lead

From the source:

A revelation. Stripped down all out amp pusher. The Revelation has a trio of controls. Pre Gain, Gain, and Volume. LOTS of volume. Pre Gain sets the overall gain level of the device, the gain control dials in the correct amount of distortion and the volume knob absolutely slays the front end of your amp. Think of the Revelation as an extension of your amp’s pre section. Use it to push your amp into super creamy saturation, use it to boost your riffs into full and thick exaggerations of your amp’s base tone. The Revelation does not alter your tone, just makes MORE of it. Choose the Revelation to hammer your amp.

The SuperLead version of the Revelation is a rawer, more aggressive take on the circuit. A bit gnarlier, mid focused, aggressive sound. Specifically tuned for guitar, and baritone guitars, choose the SuperLead for a fuller, fatter, more saturated and aggressive sound.

While there is no schematic for this one I did some comparison between the Black Arts Toneworks Revelation Super Bass and the Pharaoh, and what I noticed is that the values are identical, with the tone control removed. This leads me to be fairly certain that the Black Arts Toneworks Revelation Super Lead is the same concept, but with the values for the LSTR, since the tonal description matches that of the comparisons between the Pharaoh and LSTR. So I figured since I had the layout out to modify it to match the Oath (Black Arts Toneworks Revelation Super Bass without pots) I might as well take the time to change it over to the Black Arts Toneworks Revelation Super Lead as well.

So it's a striped down LSTR without the tonestack.

  1. Wow Zach!!! Don't know how you do it. Medical School & all!

I went back & finished my masters in my middle 30's. You know, job, kids, life, & school. I did it. Thought it was rough. Obviously I had no idea what rough was all about. And you do layouts one after another just to take your mind off things???

    Seriously????

You are a driven (over) achiever. What I want to know is . . .
Where are you planning on practicing medicine at?
I want to move there. You can "practice medicine" on me all you want. I know I will live to 200 at least with you as my doctor.

    1. thanks will. trust me some of them take longer then others, some are just simple value changes, most have been relatively simple circuits. if i was really that good i'd be doing some of the crazy ones like alex. it's just doing something not related to what i have to study, and that since i can't build now being away from my home, it clears my brain.

trust me it's not so much being an overachiever as it's changes/challenges in life and taking opportunities. it's a long story how and why i went back, and i never thought that i would go down this road, and i never in a million years would have thought that i would have the ones i have now. long story short i have my undergrad in biology (pre-med track), then got my masters in education, taught various science courses for 9 years, decided to change career to medicine (physical therapy to be exact), because i tired of seeing so many students going through the revolving door of getting hurt, having getting bad info/care, not to mention seeing the care various people in my life got after strokes and what not. i live in NJ in the US, so probably will end up there or practice in NYC. by all means if you're in the area i'd me more then happy to have you as a patient.

      anyways, enough of my babbling.

    2. Well, I still think you're amazing!
Read below and above about a schematic (or lack thereof) and well a couple brain cells woke up and . . .

Here's a link for the Revelation(s)from FSB. Don't remember when or how I ran into it. But it has a schematic in a pdf download from stymie13.

They also talk about a thread from Nocentelli for another "Shaved Big Muff" with schematic also:

Hope this helps all you guys.

  2. Hi man! thank You for your work! I think there is a little mistake about the black wire, its label, in my opinion, should be "Ground"
    Bye!

    1. Top transistor image is the wrong way round but the CBE is correct in case anyone gets confused.

    2. Thanks man. I thought I flipped all of them when I was making the layout. I'll fix it later.

  4. This is amazing. I prefer it to the super bass version so far. I'm thinking I might put both boards in the same enclosure with a toggle switch and use dual gang pots. correct me if I'm wrong but that should work easily enough right?

  5. this is super filthy and i love it . my gain pot seems to cut when fully on how can i fix this?

  6. Is it possible to get a schematic of this circuit? I am not used to strip board yet. Thanks.

  7. Read my reply to Zach above. I may have stumbled across something that may help.

  8. Hey, I did both version of the pedal, and the strange thing, it's that the super Lead is really more tuned bassy than the super bass. I made the two with the same method, and so it's a bit strange....

  9. So this is basically a LSTR with tonebypass and no clipping on Q3 transistor, (and no Q4 buffer as well...).
I was wondering how a LSTR with a clipping switch, (no clipping possition), and mids pot maxed would do.
Does anybody know if that last stage buffer colours the sound on a significant way?
