Nuverdrive+
A different overdrive that uses a Korg Nutube.

The only sample I could find starts at 2:15 (first version without Tone knob)
All youtube examples sounded really meaty. So this is just an IC amplified signal followed by a tone control pushing 2 x cascading triodes, right?. So curious about this thing.

Ok, i verified this then managed to kill my Nutube. The legs/pins are quite flimsy and somehow i managed to damage pin 7 to the point that it broke off right were it joins the glass, Bugger! Anyway it works and sounded really good up until that point. Bias on trimmer was almost exactly in the middle. I am definitely going to buy another one or two as i was rather impressed by it. Would like to see an amp vero when a schematic pops up. Seemingly the new Vox MV50s use the Nutube and are meant to be pretty good.
Oh sorry to hear that. I see that you can also buy a socket for it as well, so maybe that would be good in the future. I will definitely be buying it too. Thanks a lot for verifying !
Thanks for verifying it, Gavin! For what it costs it's a real shame. Originally I wanted to draw a layout where the Nutube got soldered directly to the vero and gone underneath (as I did for the Madbean Ping). Wasn't sure cause of the possible vibrations problems. Would that help to avoid breaking it?
The pins on the Nutube aren't the normal spacing and i tried to mount it on vero. I was probably being to heavy handed and thats how i broke it so be careful if you buy one. Lesson learned! I noticed vibration wasn't to much of an issue. However, if you give it a knock you do get a mild jangly sound in the background.
Anyone think this maybe a potential DIY tube amp when paired with a solid state power amp like a TDA2030? For those that have built it does it have good headroom?

The overdrive design is pretty basic, so a lot more could be done with it (e.g. adding a Baxandall tone control). If I invest in one of these devices, I think I'll experiment with some circuits on the breadboard first to examine the possibilities.
