Nine Volt Nirvana Tone Dog
Another Nine Volt Nirvana fuzz. Cna't find anything info on it, but as usual if it's from Joe Gagan it's got to be good.
Forgot to write them in the notes. I'll add it when I get back home. Until then they're 1N4002. You can try different diodes to get different flavors of distortion.
I built this today and realized that it is missing a 68k resistor from Q2's base to ground. The right side of the board has some room for it if you change the tone trimmer to a smaller one or an off-board pot. With the 68k resistor in place, the circuit works with a wide variety of Ge transistors. I tried ones with Hfe ranging from the high 30's to about 150 and all sounded good, though the low-gain parts limited the available gain range. One problem I had was that the tone pot (the one drawn as an off-board pot) did not seem to work. It had no effect on the sound until completely counter-clockwise, at which point the volume dropped and it sounded very muffled, like a cap going straight to ground. Maybe because the two middle electrolytic caps are then along the same signal path, but facing opposite directions? I checked for solder bridges with my multi-meter and could not find any.
Is there a stock value on the diodes? Thnx, for the layouts...

No. It connects to the 4.7nF on the left.
