Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Enjoy the builds and please also visit us on Facebook and Twitter
Verified, working fine as laid out and sounds pretty close to the demo clip. Used germainiums instead of schottkys for D1-3 (very similar forward voltage fyi). Although not anything overly exceptional, it does what it's supposed to and puts out a nice saturated 70's-ish buzzy OD tone. Thanks for the layout Alex, cheers!
They're just clipping diodes so almost anything will work and give subtly different sounds. If you can, build it without these diodes and then experiment with different ones (you might be able to use crocodile clips for that if you have them). Like you I don't have BAT48 in stock so I can confirm that BAT46, 1N4148, 1N34, 1N4002, 1N5817 all work. You should have small bags of all these, they're all cheap and good to have in.
hey sir, first i wanna say what a great job that you did in this circuit, i just have a question, as shown in the circuit where did i plug the ground wire of the input and the output jack ?? thanks
would BAT46 or BAT41 be good instead of the bat 48? any other diode?
ReplyDeleteAny schottky should be close enough.

Thanks for this. Your on the ball here lately. Traced on Saturday and Vero posted Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI'll build anything that even hints at a 70's era Who tone, giving this a crack here shortly, will report back with results.
