Since I posted layouts for the Hornby Skewes Zonk Machine, version 1 and 2, Will Kenworthy posted links to 2 other schematics that were traced and posted over at the DAM forum for a version of the Zonk II under the Sola Sound name back in the 60's. I figured why not make layouts for them as well.
Version 1
Version 2
Hey man, it reads PNP (Si) for the OC75. Should be a PNP (Ge).
ReplyDeletethanks man. forgot to change that, from the JHS Zonk II, which was Si. All fixed.
DeleteNo probs man thought so, will this be more like a Mk 1.5 Tone bender do you think? Gonna put it on the breadboard at some point anyway but just curious!
DeleteYea. Looked that way to me. Personally, while I love all tonebenders the mk 1.5 is one of my faves. There's something magical to it that I don't get from the other ones. Granted like the big muff, I haven't found one I didn't like.
DeleteThat's what I've found too. Sounds gnarly like a tone bender should but really focused with great clean up. Best of all worlds I suppose.

ReplyDeleteOddball cap values just like the TB 1.5
ReplyDeleteBefore anyone asks, sub 5uF with a 4u7 and 25uf with 22uF cap however mouser sells 5uF and 25uF axial caps but they are pricey.
Thanks Zach!
ReplyDeleteNow . . . . Which one do I build?
All of them, of course! Easy answer.
