Madbean Fencepost (Noise Gate / Expander)
Here is Brian's version of Armdnrdy's project from the DIY Forum.
You can find the original thread with all the infos here and Brian's version here.
Hi Chris, I'm pretty sure you can, they're from the same family, the 560 has higher voltage ratings but they have the same hFe range so wont hurt to try it!
hey dude..i can't answer to that. for me it's really good. for you it might be crap...try it. if you don't like it, take it apart.. it's a few cents and a few hours of your time...
side note i forgot to say that i've used 5534 and it works perfect too..it suppose to be a really quiet ic...also 4,7 zener was the only one i had in hand so i've used that.
well i made the noise buster. It works well if you keep the pot on zero. The more you turn up the pot the more highs you lose. With the pot on zero you get some pretty good noise busting and there are no attack release issues with a lot of noise gates. On a scale of 1-10 i give the noise buster a 7.5 . I use mini humbuckers for my strats so as far as 60 cycle hum idk. I do get some hum from my computers and it does help with that . I am considering building one of these as well just to compare
I came to your article from another article and am really interested in this learning about this. , I feel strongly about information and love learning more on this. If possible, as Pass Box manufacturers
I just finished Madbean´s version of this. Works great! But i don´t know what that switch is supposed to do. In one position gate works like it should and another position no gate at all. Maybe I omit that switch. Definetly in box, that´s what I need with my Strat.
Nice one. Definitely something to give it a try. Thanks Alex.
ReplyDeleteCan i use BC558 instead of BC560? I only have the BC558

ReplyDeleteSwitch is supposed to make it work as expander.
DeleteDoes anybody know if there's a vero around somewhere with the 3080 instead of the 13700?
ReplyDeleteHow to set up trim pots?
