Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. 1776 Multiplex Jr.
A great 1776 Effects delay to be added to our vero library.
You can find PCBs and infos on their website HERE
I just finish to built it. Awesome sounding I love it. I just have a minor bug (maybe on my side), the modulation part stop working if I max the speed pot. If the speed pot was rated from 1 to 10 the modulation works as it should until 9. At this level modulation stop working and the led stop blinking. Just before stopping(around 9) the led stop blinking and stays on, and the speed of the effect (by ear) seems to be as it max. It's not a big problem because I don't plane to use it at this speed. I use LDR with LED for the modulation. Thanks a lot for this great layout. It will be my main delay now.
Built one for myself and noticed the same behaviour with the speed pot (having a VTL5C3 in there). When maxed, the resistance of the pot is 0 ohm. Stopped it at the last usable spot, detached the power and measured 1K7 at the pot. So - i took a 1K8 resistor in series with one of the pot wires. Now there is 1K8 present even when to pot is at full CW. And now i have full working range for the control.
Amazing tone. One of the best PT2399 circuits i've toyed around with. +m
The one I used is a 24/48k to 10M. I used the same one in mutron III and clarinot and it was very good. I found another one 300r to 500k and same effect. A bit later this time, just before 10. The speed is so quick that the waves (don't know how to tell it better) seems to touch the next one and it kill the effect. Maybe I just have to find the perfect LDR. But as I say in the previous post, it's not a big problem, I just have to stop on 9. I'm so happy that I begin to think to buy the VTL5C3 to have the perfect build. I don't know the process to verify a build but for me your layout is verified.
Just finished this one and its sounding really good. I used a VTL5C3 as stated and my speed pot also stops working after ~9 but i think its just going too fast. Great pedal definitely another worth boxing.
Now you go easy tigger, that's not a project you want to get hands on when you don't know what capacitors (the yellow comps) are. I get your feeling of excitement but I'm sure all guys above have at least 50+ builds already, that meaning making less mistakes and specially knowing how to FIX them.
and it's my fourth built, and i used the led/ldr mod, and the 1,8k resistor mod at speed3. i also needed the wet signal and found it at time3. great project. thx for sharing
I love how this one sounds. I did a Multiplex on a pcb and it's great but I didn't do the add on modulation board and this one more than makes up for that. https://i.reddituploads.com/5c6faa664b2b4ea8ba16ae520b432fca?fit=max&h=1536&w=1536&s=df1b93a558f1a218844c7d3011b77773
Those 2 dots underneath pt2399 on the link... what do they mean? i am assuming it means i should connect the rail under each dot with the link. is this correct?
when i remove the 180k resistor in serie with ldr and depth 3, the modulation is mutch more intense, like the vĂdeo, with this resistor, the modulation is very sweet and calm. @artesaniosonoralab
This thing sounds really great. Thanks guys for the layout. I did notice a small flaw. The Bottom right most cut is in the wrong position on the underside shot of the layout. It should be one over. See the topside layout. I had to jump a 10n over a diagonally positioned 47n to get everything to work. No big deal. But for future builders, look for the error. Also I intend to add the resistor mod to the speed control. Maxed out is unusable. Thanks.
What I want is the volts dial on that test box he has! haha almost kidding awesome shit weird modulation and really nice tone on the calm settings
ReplyDeleteWhat a great circuit. Built this one from the original 1776 PCB. Didn't use any other delay since. Binson mode is especially a great feature.

DeleteDid you use 10/20K On - 10M Off LDR?

ReplyDeleteI agree, already boxed.

ReplyDeleteMaybe it's similar to the Catalinbread Belle Epoch? I think that the controls are the same.
ReplyDeleteGood job mates!
Nope, the Belle Epoch is Spin FV-1 based.
DeleteOk, thanks.
DeleteDoes this go 100% wet mix? I'd be using it in a wet dry setup, so kill dry or 100% wet is what I'm looking for. Thanks!
ReplyDeletehi, i build fx for dub, using with a mixer so i needed wet also. You can get the 100% wet signal out of mix3.
DeleteHi, whats the yellow comps are? Thx.

yeah but a lot of caps here should be film instead of disc, especially the link cap at the input...

This layout is missed C24.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted.
DeleteI've added it.

ReplyDeleteIs it possible to add a tails mod? thank you

ReplyDeleteHow can I solder without rate led???
