Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Enjoy the builds and please also visit us on Facebook and Twitter
Each of the 3 switches has 8 connectors : A, A1, A2, A3, B, B1, B2, B3 (A and B being the poles and the 6 others the throws, ie 2P3T, 2 poles / 3 throws for each pole) In that case you have to connect a wire to switch 3 B2 and B3 It's that simple ;-)
Has anyone verified this yet i built it i'm getting sound through it but with the volume turned all the way up i can hardly hear it i have checked everything cant find anything wrong.
no it's not verified. you could be the one! i've also checked the layout and i believe it matches with the schematic. if you haven't fixed it yet, you can post your voltages and some clear photos of both sides of your board, in the forum at debugging section.
I'm building one. So far it works (i.e: there’s a overdriven sound when pluged), but with a screeching noise when the high potti is fully open. But I still wait for the 3 2P3T sliding switches. In the meanwhile, I’ve tried to bypass them with jumpers, but maybe the problem comes from that :) I’ll post back when I’ll have the switches installed.
Neat. Two questions: 1. On the layout at Column 15 Track 6 does the blue ring on the link mean that two links connect to the track at that point ? 2. Is Pin 1 of the IC's at top left ? Thanks
Hello, Just to share my accomplishment... I've finally finished this build. It was my first without a kit. The GT2 clone works perfectly well. I can't remember if the tone is comparable to the original, but this build sounds great with my Jazz bass. Thank’s for your site !
Finished the build, and added a balanced out Via a transformer. Everything seems to function correctly, but I get a loud squeal oscillation when set to tweed, with the drive above 1/4. Is this normal? It also changes pitch and intensity with the tone pots. Any way to fix this issue?
Finished it today. It sounds way better than I expected! I encourage everyone thinking of starting it to do so. It's quite some work, but it's so worth the effort!
Just a small issue, the above mentioned squeal. In my case it happens at high gain settings with british and california. Any clue on solving this would be much appreciated.
By the way, TERRIFIC SITE! Been following it daily for some years and learn something new every day. Thank you so much, guys!
Can someone help me with this the miv and the mod switch is working but the amp only one position is working when you try to use the position 2 and 3 no sounds at all thanks in advance
I need help thanks the amp switch is working but only 1 position when in 2nd and third it has no sounds double check the pcb and components all good no solder bridge thanks
Hi there, was used this pedal back in 90's, although this great pedal disappeared at some point.. Fortunately this website helped me learn to built my own, So decided to bring it back, combine with Equinox II reverb, add the send/return juction in between.. and finally complete this bedroom friendly project lately, Share some photos of the making process here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/8n3aARKHJe41MhGQ8
This with the classic and much more on the to build list will keep me busy until 2017 !
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex for another very well put layout :-)
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhich is the value of that resistor "CLR"?
ReplyDeleteWhatever suits you when it comes to LED brightness. I tend to use something between 2K and 4K7 depending on the LED type
DeleteThank you Ivlark! :)
DeleteShould add tags: Amp Emulation, Distortion, Tech21, Unverified, Vero
ReplyDeleteJust realized I couldn't search this one under any tags.
I've forgotten!
DeleteDone now.
Thanks :)

Delete:)
DeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteHow do u wire the switches up like the top left corner sw3 b2b3 hope this is not a dumd question

Are the one below sw3b2b3 sw3b are sw3 a1a3
ReplyDeleteDammit, I don't need another complex build. Now I'm never going to sleep!

ReplyDeleteI found 68 cuts on this
ReplyDeleteThanks Luca!
DeleteI've missed one!
I've updated it.
Started building this beast \m/

Looks great so far, I like the way you wired the switches on pieces of perfboards
DeleteI've done it 'cause it will be easier to install them
DeleteThank's for posting ! Looks awesome !
ReplyDeleteis it a transistor on CBE ? and if so, what reference do you suggest ?
It's a 2n5088.
ReplyDeleteIt's written on the layout.
Ha !!! Sorry, I should have seen it !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reply anyway

how to make an independent switch for each gain mode?
ReplyDeleteVERIFIED!!!

Any video of the clone sounds? It would be great to hear the similarities :)

ReplyDeleteIs the 'CLR' component the resistor that usually goes between the 9v jack and the on/off LED?
ReplyDeletecorrect. CLR stands for current limiting resistor, so any time you see it it's going to the LED.
DeleteThe 'California/Hot Wired/Off Axis' route is the best.
ReplyDeleteIs there a build on this site that emulates just that sound?
Did you build this one?
ReplyDeleteYou could just remove the switches and just keep the components you need for those settings.
Neat. Two questions: 1. On the layout at Column 15 Track 6 does the blue ring on the link mean that two links connect to the track at that point ? 2. Is Pin 1 of the IC's at top left ? Thanks
ReplyDeleteYes for both (as far as the IC orientation is with the dot upwards like here)
