Devi Ever Electric Brown

Adding to Devi library.
Devi is definitely one of the good people in the industry. Can't say this enough. You should most definitely think about getting kits (and why not production pedals) from her Etsy page. Her pricing is very appealing too...

  1. Is this a fairly new DE pedal? Haven't heard of it for sone reason, but comes as a pleasant surprise judging by the video.
    As always with Devi's pedals the parts count is too low not to give it a go, I know wht I'll be doing when I get home...!

  2. Verified. The pre-gain acts like a tone, adding more bottom the more clockwise it goes. Some great boost on this too and can give some nice glassy static style fuzz too. Thanks Miro (and Mark) - Happy New Year!

  3. errrr.... and the imput? Will build this evening. The OK Fuzz really sucks (in my opinion) but this one sounds very correct :)

    2. Thanks Miro :P Well, just finished building this effect. Really shocks that so few components can create an overdrive.

      Just tried it now at bedroom volume, but this effet seems to offer its best with a nearly cranked amp, as first thing I perceived is a very low overall gain, nothing to see with the video and other demos I've seen. Let's hope that cranking a bit my amp it shines, or just sound like in the demo :P

      I've used a pair of MPSA18, both rated 950hfe, the higher ones i have. Any suggestion?

    3. Mine is behaving in the same way, but like you I had to stick with low volume at split wattage.

      I guess like with most of Devi's pedals the amount of volume boost on tap is a big part of the equation.

    4. Well, just tried at high volume with the amp nearly cranked. Yeah, it works slightly better, but I would not tag it as verfied. It dos not sound even close to the demo one.

      Don't know what can be woring as this is a extremely easy build, but it seems that not only mine sounds fainted and with very low gain.

  4. Just built this guy. Not a huge fan really. I thought the videos sounded nice, but my build just sounded bloated and had a bad decay. Hoping to one day build a Devi Ever circuit that I like. Maybe I'll try the Soda Meiser next. Hmmm.....

    2. +1, the Hyperion is superb and very simple, i've built two that have both worked and sounded amazing straight away.

    3. Have you tries the Torns Peaker? While the Soda Meiser is a great fuzz it is also extremely gated, which might not be everyone's cup of tea.

      The TP I'd say might be the most "traditional" sounding Devi fuzz... Or at least it can give lower gain, more traditional sounds as well as dirtier ones. You can also make it switchable between TP and VFM if you fancy a bit of octave fun every now and again...!

    4. for reference, she's got a ton of her schematics on her site. All of them seem really easy, and I think most, if not all, of them use the same transistors, input setup, etc. Just slightly different arrangement of the parts.

    Could you adding 2n2907A to turn this vero as LP (Let's Play) devi ever : fx. Maybe adding a switch to turn as LP or EB ?

    1. You could draw three wires to the poles of 3pdt toggle switch and mount the transistor on one side of it and leaving it empty on the other. The wires would go from the second and fifth row (from top) on the left and third row on the right.

  6. The Hyperion and Soda Meiser are both gated but have very usable sustain, especially at higher volumes (it will feedback before it gates). The Hyperion is the more gated of the two. One cool thing about the SM is you can flip the 2N907A to get the Vintage Fuzz Master circuit. Or sub the 2N2907A with a 2N2222 for GZ specs

    Overall, my favorite circuit from her is the Torns Peaker. It's nasty. The Aenima is like the same thing but slightly more refined.

  10. Could some one help me out with my problem? It really fuzzes; so the volume and pregain function well, but the moment I touches the strings, the noise increases dramatically. It won't go until I lift my fingers.

  12. Just build this and it works... but what does Q2 (the most right transistor) exactly do? When I unplug it, it doesn't change anything. (When Q1 is unplugged there's no sound at all). Does it need to change the sound or is it meant for something else (or nothing??)

  13. The right transistor does not work, because emitter not connected to the ground.

      No it doesn't work as a transistor, but it works as a diode.

  14. hey! i built this but it has an error. it works, but sounds fluffy and dull if i use it alone, if i cable the pedals in line, like i put another pedal in front of it it sounds just like it should. what can be the problem?
