Here's a collection of vero (stripboard) and tagboard guitar and bass effect layouts that we have put together covering many classic and popular effects in growing numbers. Many of these have been posted on freestompboxes.org, so check that site out for great discussions on building your own effect pedals. Rogue Sound Hatchet Harry
I had a request forthe Blind Mary and will do that when I get a confirmed schematic, but in the meantime thought I'd post the Hatchet Harry.
Yeah tis' quite FF-ish. I like it, it's got that slight fizzy, splatty texture to it that I like. Also reminds me a little of the Bazz Fuss. Good work again boyo!
quick question for you. i built this circuit, and when the attack is turned up all the way, i'm getting oscillation/squeal. it sounds good right up to that point. i can't figure it out. any ideas?
Aah the old silicon Fuzz Face oscillation problem, happens to me almost every time I build one! :o) Try putting a 470pf cap between Q2 base and collector, and if that doesn't work you want to put a low value resistor (something like 100 ohms) between the 22u negative lead and ground. If you're using a radial cap for the 22u, then put an extra cut to the right hand side of the 100n bottom lead on row 4 (left hand side looking track side), solder the 22u cap between rows 2 and 4 in the column position it is currently in, and then solder the 100R to the left hand side, between the 100n and 22u, and from row 4 to the bottom row.
thanks man, the 470pf cap worked great! it kinda makes it sound like its just below the point of oscillation. sounds pretty sweet. i added the 100ohm resistor with the 22uf cap to ground at first, but it seemed to tame down the circuit too much, so i ended up taking it back out. thanks for your help....again!
Verified mate!
ReplyDeleteNice one mate. What do you think of it? The circuit is very Fuzz-Face-ish

ReplyDeleteCleans up nice too with guitar volume roll-back!
