A low/medium overdrive with lots of gain and a subtle fuzz mode.
The MI Audio Blues Pro Overdrive Guitar Pedal's no-nonsense circuitry offers effects that are very 'immediate'. There are no internal trimmers, so that with the Blues Pro you get a very easy-to-use pedal, with the classic configuration of Gain, Tone and Volume. The MI Audio Blues Pro is a bit compressed, which gives the pedal a bit of extra punch. Blues Pro is an overdrive that also sounds throaty in high gain settings.
In the Fuzz mode the tone control becomes more of a 'sponge' control. With the tone all the way up, the Blues Pro pedal sounds like a louder version of the original. As you turn the Tone control down, the response time of the Blues Pro increases. This sounds particularly cool on chords. Turn the MI Audio Blues Pro Overdrive effect's Tone control all the way down, and the tone takes a second or two to settle.

ReplyDeleteI finished this one on the weekend and spray painted and labelled the box and its sounds great.Good for rythum/lead and single and H/B pups.
Fat mode ,with the gain down low,it gives a nice warm overdrive.Theres plenty of gain on tap when its turned up past 12o'clock.-bloody loud too !
The fuzz mode is good for sustain and pretty wild but cleans up with guitar volume turned down.I like this one.:)
Any components I could change to tame the Fuzz a bit ?

Yes two separate switches, both SPST (or you could just use one throw of a SPDT if you can get hold of them easier).

DeleteJust want to make sure I have this right: The electrolytic capacitors shown in blue on the layouts have a blueish light shaded dash on one end. Is that the orientation for the negative side of the capacitor?

I just finished building this blues pro,works alright but when i flip switch for fuzz i dont get fuzz.It just pulls the volume wayy down.Am i missing something?I know i built it exactly right according to the vero and positive there are no solder bridges.I cant understand why it gets lower in volume on fuzz???? help please?
ReplyDeleteI don't know why the switch is called Fuzz because it certainly isn't that. All it does is put another diode in the feedback loop and so adds additional compression and distortion. A extra diode clipping the other half of the waveform means a reduction in volume so that is to be expected.

ReplyDeleteI have sound from input to IC pins 1,2&3 and then from pin 7 to output but no link between the 2. any ideas? can send IC Voltages if that helps
