With switch to change between symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping.

  1. So without the output buffer, it's the same than a TS808?

  2. No, the TS808 has an output buffer. I don't know whether Ibanez every released a version of the TS9 without the buffer or whether the scheme I did this from is just someone's owm modification, but this is more like something Lovepedal would do. In fact they'd remove the input buffer too.

I'm going to do a TS808 in the next few days though, so if you want it just keep checking back.

  3. Is this definitely verified mate? I'm only getting a clean signal when activated with all knobs at max. tried various IC and transistors...

    1. I don't know if anyone has built this mate, but it was verified because the SD1 version was, and this is basically the same thing with a few different values and one less cap. I'll go over the layout again later to double check it over but I'm fairly confident about this one.

    2. Well for some reason I'm now getting constant oscillation. no guitar signal that I can hear. the pots change the pitch and the switch sounds like a siren when switching back and forth..

No worries mate...I'll move onto another ;o)

  4. I just built this tonight and it works. I am gonna change the diodes a bit , but other than that all is well, it`s as advertised. First time posting on here, but I thought I would verify that it works. Thanks for all the great layouts IvIark.

  5. What type of diodes are used there?

  6. Where is the out of the effect? Also I don't know how to wire te 1 and 2 lugs of the level pot...I'm getting mad! Thanks! ;)

    1. It says in the notes. Level 1 needs to go to ground, Level 2 is the output

  7. Ouch...silly question...thanks! Next time I'll keep an eye for the notes!

  9. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TS9 and TS808 IS IN OUTPUT BUFFERS RESISTORS?
IS THERE STILL SOME DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TS9 AND TS808?
WHY YOU DID NOT NAMED PROJECT "Ibanez TS808 without output buffer". THX.

    2. Exactly the kind of question and way of asking that makes me send to hell the poster with no remorse.

Try to use "Google" and search "good manners".

Later, and once learned, you can keep on with "ts 808 - ts-9 differences"

      DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

  10. what kind of NPN transistor better to use?

  11. Nice Ivlark! This is the original version whitout buffer? I have tryed a "modded" version of TS9. Do you know which is this "mod" for TS9?
    thx

  12. I'm curious as to which components would need swapping in this layout to make this a bufferless 808 instead of a TS9. I can only spot a 470r/100r and a 100k/10k? but they only seems present on the larger layouts?

    1. Two years late to answer :) But no, this is basically a TS808 and a TS9 in the same circuit as the difference between the two are in the output buffer - that's been omitted here.

  13. Hello fellow builders. Ive been trying to figure out how to get more volume from this pedal. Could I change a resistor? Should I use a larger value volume pot? Or? Should I just but a linear power booster inside the pedal after the circuit? Thanks for your assistance.

    1. You could try upping the value of 1K (middle one of three on the right side of the opamp, above the 220n) for something like 10K. That may affect the tone control as well, but it'll add volume.

Wonder if the TS circuit would benefit from having a transistor gain stage instead of an output buffer...

  14. I was constantly getting the oscillator sound when trying to make this, turns out i wasn' very smart and didn't do all the cuts + the transistor on the layout confused me.

  15. Thanks IvIark, another pedal that sounds great! :D
I built the pedal following the layout and it totally works, I also used a 4558DD instead of the 4558D and it seems to have a little more gain.
