I realized, after scratching my head for a while about the above instructions, and then tracing the layout and the schematic carefully, that the current layout HAS all of the changes described here.

However, what I'm getting only KINDA works. I am getting:

– tons of distortion, all the time
– Fuzz control is a hair trigger, goes from nearly inaudible, to blasting with the slightest turn of the pot.
– when bias is dialed to about max, output is completely muted

I am running this from a pretty standard Godin with humbuckers to a Roland Microcube. Mostly Clean setting with minimal gain.

I've checked all the values, pots, links, cuts, etc.

Still scratching my head.Lightcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17203358880467867878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-33460789388165714992018-07-15T18:07:33.126+01:002018-07-15T18:07:33.126+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Lightcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17203358880467867878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-48629721913729031742018-07-15T17:17:36.638+01:002018-07-15T17:17:36.638+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Lightcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17203358880467867878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-43587776460367154952016-02-07T20:32:29.042+00:002016-02-07T20:32:29.042+00:00I shall nominate myself for the February 2016 dips...I shall nominate myself for the February 2016 dipstick of the month award for missing off a component completely, no wonder it didn't work when I first tried it :o/

Glad I bothered to check though, don't think I found a single bad sound with this build so far, plenty of fuzz on tap, the body and tone controls work nice and smoothly, no unusable extremes, didn't really find much use for the load pot but may well turn out to be a godsend with some guitars, reacts nicely to playing dynamics, cleans up pretty well from the the guitar volume control though never completely clean it's always at least a bit gritty, but it is a fuzz after all!

Only control not mentioned so far is bias, works just as expected and is very interactive with the other controls, and very easy to find a point where it does varying degrees of that spluttery voltage starved 'crapping out' on notes thing. Only (Fairly minor) issue I have with it is that no matter what settings I tried it would always cut out completely by at most somewhere around 3/4 travel.

Very happy with this one and definitely getting boxed, just have to fine tune the exact transistors I like best :o)Pavloshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01014262540021503034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-91268142321001401902015-04-04T21:58:00.842+01:002015-04-04T21:58:00.842+01:00lol. it happens to the best of us. don't think...lol. it happens to the best of us. don't think i'm coming down on your or anything, it's hard to convey tone when typing man. trust me, everyone here is here to help.Zachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00044917566185720896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-88934937680452348422015-04-04T21:19:54.345+01:002015-04-04T21:19:54.345+01:00Double post mistake. ALL effects that use NPN transistors can be daisy chained.

if you want to use a charge pump to increase the voltage to 18V, i don't see why not, as long as all your electrolytics are rated above that.Zachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00044917566185720896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-55791525991157212382015-04-03T17:59:43.960+01:002015-04-03T17:59:43.960+01:00Can you do a charge pump with this to make it dais...Can you do a charge pump with this to make it daisy chain?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-42171592533931197362015-04-03T17:35:56.137+01:002015-04-03T17:35:56.137+01:00you don't need one. this uses NPN transistors....you don't need one. this uses NPN transistors.Zachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00044917566185720896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-11858672842004315752015-04-03T17:21:46.576+01:002015-04-03T17:21:46.576+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-43576546200937474542013-05-02T15:16:43.425+01:002013-05-02T15:16:43.425+01:00working?working?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14640163492865366757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-51566892023103615502012-08-09T22:23:35.711+01:002012-08-09T22:23:35.711+01:00cool. thanks Mark!cool. thanks Mark!johnkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00643996045674470081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-72512949738377678702012-08-09T21:11:52.252+01:002012-08-09T21:11:52.252+01:00Just use the 25K. Whether you use that or the 20K...Just use the 25K. Whether you use that or the 20K, in the extreme CW position it will connect the 2K2 to ground and so increasing that resistor will alter the maximum mids level. Increasing the pot value puts more resistance between the resistor and ground at the other end of the rotation and so I expect you would get slightly more scoop in the CCW position.IvIarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08416945174853142251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-47661841248210790902012-08-09T20:26:43.357+01:002012-08-09T20:26:43.357+01:00can i use a 25K log instead of the 20K log pot? an...can i use a 25K log instead of the 20K log pot? and if so, should i change the resistor value going to pin 3 on the pot?johnkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00643996045674470081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847048658257278783.post-44852455229242829332012-08-07T18:49:40.495+01:002012-08-07T18:49:40.495+01:00:)
