  1. Is it possible to sub out the TLE2074 for a TL074?? Some ebay listings suggest that the TLE2074 is an "upgrade" for the TL074.

    2. Any quad op amp that is good for gain applications - TL074, TLE2074, OPA4134, TLE2144, LME49740, etc. - will work fine. The TLE207x series is TI's update to the TL07x. The main benefit for this application is a lower maximum noise floor. There are other improvements like extended bandwidth, faster slew rate, extended voltage range.

    3. All I have on hand is a TL074 and a MAX1044 and it sounds like the demos, but is noisy. I'll look for a TLE2074. Do I need the 7660S?

  8. No problem Alex. Had a TLE2074 in the stash for building the Sentient machine but saw this and thought yeh i love a good distortion. Guess i better order another.

  9. I built this and used different pots to because I didn't have any "C" taper pots, and I didn't really like the pedal all that much. So I ordered some c taper pots, cause you can never have too many pots on hand, and tried them out. Wow! You really need to use the correct taper. This pedal is really smooth. Based on some of the audio samples I heard I expected this to be more metal, it can pull metal off but it's a really nice versatile distortion.

  12. For any of you who have built this and are getting "broken speaker" kinda crackle with bass & treble maxed: fixed mine by changing the 22k going to Bass-3 to 47k and 10k going to Treble-3 to 22k.

  13. The document for the Madbean PCB shows a 22nf on the bass pot's legs 1 and 3.
