  1. Such a good effect. I bought a PCB from David a while ago and now it's on my pedalboard. Hell yeah. I put a SHO after it for extra boost (though I don't know if it really needed it).

  3. I don't know if it is the combination of the jazzmaster with the effect or the pedal itself, but those examples sounded really amazing. The octave down with the open E... No words.
Does it behaves well after buffers¿

    1. Yeah keep in mind that demo was with delay and also the vibrato on the JM, but yeah they sound cool. Octave down is meaty as hell.

I haven't had any issues after buffers? I have a Klone first in my chain and it doesn't effect anything negatively.

    2. Well, I think the ampeg scrambler has just fallen from my to-do list...

  4. Thank you so very very much Alex,i been wanting this on vero for a long long time.this makes my day/week/month and year all in one.i'll be up all night building this one for sure.thank you Alex and Mr Rolo for a kick ass circuit imho. This site rules....

  5. Hell yeah! This is such a sick octave/fuzz! I love mine. Props for another crazy vero.

  6. Well I have just built a Roger Mayer Mongoose, which I really like, and have som ICs spare.
I know what to do with them now! Thanks Alex!

  7. Any pedal inspired by early Genesis is worth building

  8. How would you guys compare this to the EQD Bit Commander?

    1. The Hogweed is a lot less synthy. It CAN get toward that vibe, but it's more of a true fuzz/dist with the octaves lending itself toward a synth vibe, but not fully there.

  9. Call this verified. Ued 2M2 instead of 2M, 2u2 instead of 2u, 220u instead of 200u, 33R instead of 39R, 33p instead of 30p and a 1N4148 instead of 1N914. Need to play with it a bit more to determine how good it is but at first messing it sounds really good.

  10. Wich of the transistors on here are T5 and T6 from the schematic? Mr Rolo suggest in his pdf file that we should match Hfe of T5 and T6 as closely as possible, also forward voltage of D1 and D2 should match as closely as possible. TIA

  11. I Think i may have figured it out.looks to me like the Q labels are mixed up.DGS=Q3,then four spaces to the right would be Q4 then the labeled Q4 is actualy Q5 and labeled Q5 is actualy Q6 . I'm not 100% sure if i'm wrong then i'm very sorry and do not mean to cause any confusion.

    1. Yep. Rolo's T5 and T6 are Alex's Q4 and Q5. The layout numbering doesn't match the schematic numbering because Alex labelled T3 as BS170 and T7 as 2N3904. Simply to display as much info on the layout instead of the notes I'd imagine.

You will find quite a few layouts here that do the same thing which is why I always recommend having a copy of the schematic beside you while you build.

    2. Thank you Ciaran Haslett for the confirmation,I always try to have the schematic right next to the vero that i build. This always helps me to make sure i don't make any mistakes and reading them both while building is a good way to learn and understand the circuit and how to make a vero from the schematic.

    3. Yeah Rolo uses a millenium bypass with DPDT hence the MOSFET and extra BJT.

  12. wasnt there a pcb made for this? i think this is an amazing circuit, but id find it worth it throw down $10 on a pcb- great job on a vero- but I know I will screw this up!

  13. Just noticed It says 23 links but I’m counting 24. I finished this up recently and it sounds amazing. Thanks for posting this.

  14. hi everyone,

I had this pedal as part of an exchange and the Octave Switch made a big bump when it was engaged ...
I thought the Switches were badly wired but everything works ... someone could give me the correct way to wire the Switches? moreover I do not see "out" on the vero.

in advance, thank you very much for your help!

    1. I’m sure someone who has built it will be able to comment on the switches but if you look at the text at the bottom it says Level 2 to Out
