Pink Jimi Photon Flying Spaghetti Monster

Pink's latest original. It's suggested that "Bloom n' Boost" switch should be taken as a stomp. And you should probably play around with the clipping diodes too. The feedback loop transistor reportedly needs to be a high gain PNP Germanium for the circuit to work right. Don't know about you guys, but i'm going to build one for myself. You'll find Jimi's complete thread about the design on FSB.

  1. In case somebody is wondering how it sounds:

  3. tthis is a cool little fuzz. hope you guys enjoy it. i', thinking of adding one final stage of buffering to it switchable tho so it plays nice with everything else.
    rock on and have fun...

    1. Hey Pink! Do you think it should be tagged as a Fuzz instead of distortion?

  5. Will a PNP Ge hfe 190 do?

  6. I just built it and it works & sounds great. the gain pot worked backwards so I swapped lug 3 with lug 1 and it increases as you turn it clockwise now. the 1K trimmer seems to have no effect on mine but my AC128 only has an hfe of 110. is the trimmer supposed to have much effect?

swap lug 3 to lug 1 on the gain pot and verify it.

    1. I wondered about the lug numbers on the schematic, but since i wasn't too familiar with how the active component in feedback loop acts, i went with the schematic numbering.

Pot lug label updated and layout tagged. Cheers John.

  7. yeah, i see pots labeled both ways, and it blows chunks.
i generally label whichever one is closest to ground potential as #3 i think. it's been a while.
cuz here's the thing... we use 'em as volume controls, or gain controls or whatever, but sometimes what works for us as we're used to thinking of it ends up being backwards from the standpoint of whatever the damn knob is supposed to do. sometimes ya wanna turn shit down, sometimes ya wanna turn shit up, and dammit... i can't keep it straight ;)
the trimmer should really only adjust the tone a little if memory serves... try it into a big amp and tweak it a little. pretty much any ge should work i'd imagine, and the leakier the better. just socket it and stuff 'em in til ya like the sound i'd say. i hate trying to measre ge's, shit, being in the same room with 'em can send 'em into thermal runaway ;)

  8. Hey mirosol, this pedal looks awesome and I'd like to build it. The only thing I'm missing is where does Gain 3 go? I'm not seeing it on your layout.

    1. I don't think it's connected to anything so just leave it!
