Free The Tone HB-2 Heat Blaster

Info about the original:
The HEAT BLASTER delivers a truly modern distortion sound, with a tone control plus high-cut and low-cut switches for additional tonal adjustment. The high-cut switch attenuates the presence frequencies in order to produce a mellow tone that retains good projection. With the high-cut switch engaged you can use the tone control to achieve the required degree of projection. This type of setting is ideal for solos. The low-cut switch attenuates the low frequencies, making it easy to attain an ideal blend with bass and drums for a well-balanced band sound. The low-cut switch affects low frequencies that normally cannot be adjusted using amplifier tone controls.

Sure enough, there's something quite familiar going on in there. Talking about a vision that came to the designer in a dream...

  5. I'm having a problem getting mine to work. I used mpsa18s Probably should have used the 2n3904s. But I was sure to cross the bass and collectors because of the pin out

I have signal right up until the negative side of the 10uf output cap. I have voltage at the positive side but nothing from the negative side or my output wire. I'm pretty new to this but for you need opamp or trannie measurements let me know

    1. If you have working signal at the output cap's (the 10µ) circuit side but not at outside, that means that you have a short after the output. Possibly at the bypass switching.

    1. Then a bad cap is certainly a possibility. You could try another one or swap it for 1µ MLCC or polyester box to see if that cures it.

    2. Oh. You were talking about voltage not the signal! Use a probe (http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/debug.html) to see where the signal dies. Check the transistor emitters and IC pins 1 and 7. That should tell you where the problem is.

    3. it sounds pretty good but im going to have to put mine in a 1590bb now because i used caps that are a little to high to have the board mounted above the pots
