Roland AF-60 BeeGee

I personally enjoyed the AF-100 BeeBaa design a lot, so once i noticed that this existed - i just had to draw it up. Slave to my own habits, i "modernized" the transistor pinouts to match those everyone have in their drawers. Original has 2SC1000GRs in them, so your usual suspects should work just fine in there - 2N5088, 2N5089, BC549, BC550, MPSA18 and so on. The opamp in the original unit is metal can version of TA7504 - which is very close to LM741, but you should be able to get it right with almost any single opamp.

  1. I had to post this demo, partly because of the guy demoing it... creepy hilarious:

  2. Built it. Didn't disappoint.

Not even near of AF-100, but very different from most other vintage fuzzes. Used OP70 for opamp and BC109Cs for transistors. Don't know how to describe it, but i do like this one too. A lot.

  3. By the way... This is number 450, so you guys verified 50 of our layouts in 3 weeks and 2 days. Pretty sick!

Added LPB with trimmer as it only got ~6db over unity. This one has the wildest tone control i've come across, ever.

  7. Just a quick one Miro, did you put the LPB before or after the beegee? I'm guessing after but it doesn't hurt to ask. Cheers again mate.

    1. After. But it doesn't necesserily need it. It's loudish without it, but i wanted it to be louder.

  9. Just built this jammy. Used a 741 for the op amp.
Pretty cool. Almost Superfuzz-esque, but without the sizzly octavey thing happening.

I agree it needs a bit more output. Any of y'all know of any circuit tweaks to coax more volume out of it, short of wiring in a booster?

  10. Just built this one, sounds great, dirty with loads of sustain. But the tonecontrol doesn't work at all, where should I start to troubleshoot? ...maybe check the 10nf and 47nf caps? I also used an axial russian pio cap at the right bottom, that shouldn't matter, right? I'm still quite new to this...but boy loads of fun. Great site and people seems to be really cool in here.

  13. It seems to be missing the 220K resistor connecting from Q1 base to ground ,easy fixed with another column on the left
